Microsoft : Windows XP Performance is sluggish

“The reality is that Windows XP is 13 years old and four generations behind,” says Dean Edwards, Windows Business Group Manager for Microsoft New Zealand.
Microsoft will stop providing updates to Windows XP after April 8 and Microsoft said the OS is very old and sluggish in TechDay. Microsoft has been saying about the retirement of XP for more than two years but the market share of this old OS amazes everyone. Even though there has been a steady decline in market share of the OS, it still has 29% of share which places it second in the OS shares. “The reality is that Windows XP is 13 years old and four generations behind,” says Dean Edwards, Windows Business Group Manager for Microsoft New Zealand. Of course, Windows XP can be very slow and unstable.“As a result, the operating system suffers from real technical limitations compared to say, Windows 8. Performance is now sluggish at best, as is the start-up, and modern devices will find it difficult to use.”

As new devices emerge, the support for XP will be dropped to benefit from the new features resulting in better performance of both hardware and software. Microsoft wants you to move to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 but it is up to you to choose your destination. But still Windows may be the best bet for your next destination as most of your apps will run in the latest versions of Windows without any problem.
