Surface Pro 2 was released on October 2013 with many new improvements over the first generation tablets. Windows 8.1 was pre-installed and Intel's fourth generation processor was used which improved the battery life of the device and the performance too. Now after two months of release, Microsoft updated their Surface Pro 2's hardware by upgrading to a higher clocked Intel fourth gen processor. One of the Surface 2 pro user who had swapped his old Surface 2 pro posted on the forum .
"Microsoft routinely makes small changes to internal components over the lifetime of a product, based on numerous factors including supply chain partnerships, availability, and value for our customers. With any change to hardware or software, we work to ensure that the product experience remains excellent." said a Microsoft Spokesperson.
i5 4200U clocked at 1.6 GHz was replaced by i5 4300U which runs at 1.9 GHz at stock. This speed boost will help power users who multitask with the tablet. Microsoft makes sure that there is no change in the user experience. These models have been available from late December. It is notable that Microsoft Surface tablets were out of stock in lot of stores last month.
