Microsoft may end antivirus support for Windows XP !

Windows XP is fast expiring and Microsoft has said that they would not care much to release virus definitions for MSE under Windows XP. Microsoft security essentials is one of  the most popular antivirus which has a large database of XP users.
On April 2014, all of a sudden XP users would not get any more definitions to their antivirus solution. It will make them more vulnerable as they would not get security updates after that date.

Microsoft will not guarantee updates of our antimalware signature and engine after the XP end of support date of April 8, 2014. Running antivirus on out of support operating systems is not an adequate solution to help protect against threats. Running a well-protected solution starts with using modern software and hardware designed to help protect against today’s threat landscape.  In addition, Microsoft recommends best practices to protect your PC such as:  1) running up to date antivirus, 2) regularly applying security updates for all software installed, and 3) using modern software that has advanced security technologies and is supported with regular security updates.

Do you think this move is good. Is Microsoft doing good in driving users to modern OS ? But anyway there will be plenty of thirdparty antivirus supporting XP after it's expiration . If you are using MSE then consider other free antivirus such as avast!,avg,Avira .
