The download size has also been decreased by a great extent, it's just 60 MB compared to 120 MB in avast! 8. Windows 8.1 will get the security updates next week

Patch Tuesday is just around the corner. There are a total of eight patches for Windows, Internet explorer, .NET framework which will be delivered to all the users by October 8.

 

 

It also contains the patch for the exploit which went unpatched on the last Patch Tuesday by mistake. Users will get the updates automatically via Windows update. Microsoft is aware that many of the people are running Windows 8.1 RTM  which was released on TechNet and MSDN. Therefore they are patching the latest OS out there so that it comes out with full security on October 18th.

 

Also they have to test these updates before they release to the public because they have been releasing botched updates which crashed many PC's lately.

Windows 8.1 and Bing : Video

Microsoft are releasing video ads about the upcoming Windows 8.1. This time they take the chance to show the new bing in Windows 8.1 which provides a completely revamped search engine.

“With Bing, search isn't something that only happens in a box. It can happen whenever and wherever you need it. Access the information you want from inside an app or on any device including your phone, tablet or even Xbox,” Microsoft explained in the video description.

Windows 8.1 can be pre-ordered now

We are just 16 days away from the launch of Windows 8.1. So it's time to spend some money if you are using Windows 7 or older. You can now pre-order Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft Store. Windows 8.1 will be available as a free upgrade to Windows 8 users while other users can buy Windows 8.1 as a standalone product from the store and make a clean install of Windows. 

If you're already running Windows 8 you'll be automatically upgraded to Windows 8.1 for free on October 17. If you're running Windows 7, pre-order Windows 8.1 now.

 Windows 8.1 is priced at $119.99 and Windows 8.1 pro is priced at $199.99. You can also buy the media center pack for another $9.99 if you are using Windows 8.1 pro.

The LTE version of Surface is coming soon

Microsoft has announced the LTE version of Surface will be out by the first months of 2014.The Softies have already confirmed recently that they’re working on an LTE version of the Surface tablet, but Panos Panay, the man behind the whole Surface project at Microsoft, revealed more details during a recent event in Seattle. It will be available to US and Europe users via AT&T and Vodafone respectively.
